1.On behalf of the Hong Kong Economic&Trade Office,I would like to welcome you to this special screening of The Orphan which also marks the closing of the two-week long Hong Kong Arts Festival in Tornonto.

为期两周的香港艺术节即将下帷幕，我代表香港经贸办公室欢迎诸位来多伦多观看我们为闭幕式特别放映的电影《孤儿》。

2.By showing this film,we should like to pay tribute to those committing their life to the great cause of green peace movement and all those involved it.

我们放映这部电影以纪念献身于绿色和平运动伟业的人们以及所有参与这项事业的人们。

3.There was a tremendous response when news leaked out that the film would be shown at the Festival.And some friends who emigrated here from Hong Kong many years back just wanted to indulge themselves in a few moments of nostalgia.

这部电影要在艺术节播映的消息一经传出就引起了很大反响。有些早年从香港移民到加拿大的朋友说想自己酣畅淋漓地沉浸在几十分钟的乡愁中。

4.But just as Bruce Lee has developed from a talented teenage actor to a hero on the silver screen,Hong Kong's film industry has broken out of its domestic market and taken its film to an international audience.

正如李小龙由一个才华横溢的青年演员发展为银幕英雄一样，香港电影业冲出了国内市场走向国际影坛。

5.I said at the media briefing that Jackie embodied the Hong Kong spirit,our flexible and pragmatic way of doing business and our resilient and creative workforce.

在媒体吹风会上我说成龙代表了我们香港精神，我们灵活务实的办事作风和百折不挠、富有创造力的员工形象。

6.Indeed,that spirit is what propels Hong Kong from a quiet fishing village to a major financial and business center in Asia.It can be found in every profession and industry ,with the film industry being the latest to gain international recognition.

确实，正是这种精神使香港从一个僻静的小渔村发展成为亚洲主要的金融商业中心。这种精神随处可见，任何一种职业，任何一个行当，而电影业只不过是最后一个获得国际知名度的行业罢了。

7.Hong Kong has also been lucky to have many friends.The successful launching of this Festival is due,in no small part,to the assistance from the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto.

香港经贸署有幸拥有很多朋友。这次艺术节的成功举办很大程度上有赖于中国大多伦多文化中心的帮助。

8.We hope the closing of the Festival will find the Hong Kong-Canada relationship much stronger and closer.

我们希望随着艺术节降下帷幕，香港和加拿大的关系越来越紧密，越来越牢固。

1.The art of makeups in Chinese operas boasts a long history.

脸谱是中国喜剧演员面部化妆的一程式，有着悠久的历史。

2.Prince Lanling excelled in martial arts but was too handsome to terrorize the enemy.So he always wore a ferocious-looking mask in battles in order to overwhelm the enemy.

兰陵王高长恭相貌英俊，武艺超群，在战斗中因为他貌美如妇人，不足以威慑敌人，所以往往戴上凶恶的面具。

3.In the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 A.D),with the springing up of Beijing Opera,the art of fasical makeups was increasingly perfected.And toward the end of the Qing Dynasty,the facial makeups for different categories of characters became finalized.

在清代，随着京剧的兴起，脸谱造型日趋完善，至清末脸谱已趋定型。

4.Marionette was also one of the art forms first created by Chinese,the development of which had a great influence on the future development of opera.

提线木偶也是中国首先发明的艺术形式。木偶戏的发展对以后的戏曲有十分重要的影响。

5.The Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911A.D.) were the prosperous period for Chinese opera.During these two dynasties,the major form of opera was chuanqi(romantic tales).

明清时代（公元1368-1911年），中国戏曲发展到了繁荣的阶段。这两个时期，戏剧的主要形式就是传奇戏曲。

6.Dan is a general term in Beijing Opera for all female roles. In the feudal society of old China,as men and women were forbidden to perform on the same stage,all the female roles were played by men.

旦是京剧表演中的女性人物。在过去封建时代，男女不能同台，旦角也均由男演员担任。

7.Facial makeups are a special art in Chinese operas which distinctly show the apperance of different roles as well as their dispositions and moral qualities by means of artistic exaggeration combined with truthful portray and symbolism.Facial makeups also serve to express praise or condemnation toward the characters.

脸谱是中国戏曲特有的化妆艺术，是用写实和象征相结合的艺术夸张手法，从人物面貌上揭示人物的类型、品质和性格特征，并表示对人物的褒贬。

8.Facial makeups are not only a special art in Chinese operas,but also an art of ornamental design,and have become a new variety in Chinese painting. 

脸谱艺术是戏曲中的化妆手段，也是一种富有装饰性的图案，成为中国画中的一个新的品种。
