William (Bill) H. Gates is chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft Corporation, the leading provider, worldwide, of software for the personal computer. In his junior year, Gates dropped out of Harvard to devote his energies to Microsoft, a company he had begun in 1975 with Paul Allen. Guided by a belief that the personal computer would be a valuable tool on every office desktop and in every home, they began developing software for personal computers. It is clear that Gates’ foresight and vision and passion regarding personal computing have been central to the success of Microsoft and software industry. This is the very personal quality Gates got success. 

The model of Gates’ success always urges me to constantly develop and cultivate my personal quality so that I can set up a foundation for success in the future.

To me, one of the most important personal qualities as a manager in the way of skill is the ability to communicate with people--–Can I speak clearly? In what kind of work conditions do I perform well? What I’m seeking for is an ability to verbalize my own idea in clear, concise, understandable manners. If I do have good communicative skills, I will be able to do this logically and succinctly.

I am eager for creativity –Can I be spontaneous? This is a very important personal quality. When I treat with my customers in business activities, I should respond to the sudden changes and problem-solving situations with which I am unfamiliar, and I want to know if I can deal with them.

What I mostly expect for is my individual problems —assertiveness, motivation, ambition, and a competitive instinct. These qualities can usually let me work successfully and efficiently.

In addition, we all have been forced to work at things that we did not especially enjoy. Being enthusiastic about something means being excited about a given project. Enthusiasm means that you are stimulated by your work, and are able to find new challenges and keep professional promotion. Furthermore, most of jobs have some elements that are less funny and more difficult to carry out. Enthusiasm about a job or program usually transfers into positive motivation. This is where passion really comes into use. Therefore, another important personal quality I am looking for is enthusiasm or passion.

Reading the stories that have achieved a lot often illustrates that people like you have become successful managers. In most cases, they all share some common traits: good communicative skills, great creativity, ambition and passion. If I have these personal qualities, I believe I will make success in the future: Room for the future, just like Bill Gates.
