上星期发生在四川的8级大地震已夺去近五万同胞的生命，同时造成数万人无家可归。国务院已把五月19-21日定为全国哀悼日。全国各地早已为深受影响的同胞举行筹款活动。我和我的家人已通过红十字会及慈善机构尽显绵薄之力。你们能否也向灾区人们作点捐献呢？若可以，你们可与中国领事馆或当地相关部门取得联系。预先向你门表示谢意！

Here is my appeal to friends at home and abroad and some replies from them:

Trust this note finds you all fine!
Last week a strong earthquake of 8 magnitude hit Wenchuan of Sichuan Province ,leading to around 50,000 deaths and tens of thousands being homeless. The State Council has made 19th -21st as national mourning days  to the deaths. Fundraising has been held in all parts of the country for the affected compatriots. My family and I have donated some money to the Red Cross and/or charity organisations.Could you please make small contributions to the affected people ? If so, you may contact the Chinese Consulate or the local departments concerned. Thank you in advance !

This is certainly a very very sad time for China & the world, recently the world is experiencing a very large number of natural disasters. Causing so much pain & suffering to millions of people, the TV has allocated a large amount of time on the daily news to  China & Burma. Just to watch it effect me so greatly I do not think that I can understand or imagine what the people in the effected areas must be going through.

I wanted to send you an email sometime ago to ask if any family members are effected.
I am currently collecting donations to send to China via the Bank of China, you might not be aware but I have a shop selling Asian products so I will be putting a container on the counter so that people can make donations, I agree all amount big or small will benefit those suffering so greatly.

The Chinese population is so large we should all unite to help those in time of need.

Hi Li,

Thank you for your email.  We all feel shock to hear about this happened in Sichuan.  We also have many associations here to help for the fund rising.  We all try our best to help people out of the hot water.
